Hi All,

Is there a way to stitch four photos together? Well, other
than just eyeballing them.

Many thanks,
-T

Search for "panarama" as well.

There's a plugin for GIMP:
http://stitchpanorama.sourceforge.net/

It may be prepackaged in a repo.

I believe you may want to try this package.  I've not used it recently since the
devices that I now use do the stitching while taking panoramas but it worked for me
in the past.

Hugin is great.  I use it all the time for stitching together low power
photomicrographs from multiple shots from a microscope.   I commonly
put together 40 or 50 photos into one large one.

However, you need to remember that Hugin is for creating panoramas
fromcamera shots, and assumes that all the photos are taken from a
single point by changing camera angles -- not by shifting the camera as
projects using a spherical model by default.  Be careful about setting
the focal length and projection.  For just four images, rectilinear or
cylindrical projections should work OK.  But if you want to do
measurements from the stitched image, Hugin may introduce some
distortion with scanned images.

try GIMP.

sudo apt-get install gimp

more info:
www.gimp.org

one of many tutorials on stitching panorama:
https://mailman.linuxchix.org/pipermail/courses/2005-April/001854.html

been awhile since I have played with GIMP but it is powerful and easy once
you get the hang of it. Used it with my on photography and it handled my
RAW photos and even had the color profile for my camera. Should do what
you want.

Hi Fred.

Thank you!

I use GIMP all the time. I think of it as the graphics
program from h***. It is not intuitive. But I use it
none the less as it does things other won't do.

I found this plugin for GIMP and it has a nice looking
PDF to tell you how to use it:

I never even picked that up the first time I saw it.
You think you see what you see if you are expecting
to see it. Chuckle.

And even if I had picked it up, it was perfectly
understandable what he was trying to say.
